  1. It doesnt take a rocket Scientist to do the math.

But when you are caught dead to rights, whats left for the defense but to throw things against the wall hoping they will stick?

This includes the backstory, kinda better than the defense.

    2+2 = Steed is PWNED

  2. Seems weird to me that after all this time, Judge Beacham could have figured this one out…

  3. I mean come on folks how long does it take to get a person to trial???

  4. Looks like the statute of limitations have ran out. Good try though.

  5. My pet theory is that Steed wants to do a deal but hasn’t been able to get the right terms. I also suspect that Washington county would like to get a deal but haven’t been able to get the right deal.

It appears that neither one really wants to try the case, but neither one really wants to make terms that will make it go away.

  6. The way I read the prosecutors reply, is that the statute of limitations have NOT run out on this case.

  7. I suspect that they offered him a misdemeanor rather than the rape charge but he wants zero jail time.

I think he deserves real time. If the individual men in the FLDS had said “NO” to WSJ’s attempts to involve them with child brides then there would be no story here. Somehow this pattern of behavior has to be stopped and I think real jail time is the only way. I bet if you send 10 men in each state to jail for real time that anyone else would get for the same crime, you’re going to find them wanting to wait. For one thing, if the other wives know that adding a tweener to their family might mean loss of contact with the husband for a decade or so, they might exert their own influence on the situation.

That is also how I read it. Don’t know where alinsaurus gets it’s reading from.

  9. dd and aw are correct. The statute of limitations is still alive on this crime.

  10. Why should he get a deal??? ELissa Wall testified not only against Warren Jeffs but Allen Steed in court. Ive heard of justice being slow, but come on!!!

  11. Why should he get a deal???

Well if you want to tie up the resources of the court and take the chance that the jury will acquit, then sure don’t offer him a deal.

Probably from the same place the defense gets it. The prosecutor says differently so it will be up to the judge to determine who interpretation is correct.
